I took a vacation in April, went to China of all places and then it took me awhile to get back in the swing of things. I did a beach clean up 9 days in the month of April, which is one of our top ‘Beach Trash’ months. Spring break continues on, the weather is better and the vacation rental pricing hasn’t gone up. Also missed Easter, in which thousands of Easter Eggs and the wrapping are strewn everywhere.
I made a decision at the start of April, to focus on the big stuff, towels, clothing, socks for instance. Usually starting when it is dark, much of the small pieces, ie plastic and cigarette butts don’t get seen. The big stuff takes more room and tends to be heavier… and harder to drag in my wagon.
April 2018
Illegal fires continue to go on.. there is a lack of law enforcement and this is not an unusual sight.
These beer cans were seen during the day, next to the Lifeguard Tower. Lifeguards have the ability to ticket for this. Drinking in public spaces is illegal.
Disposable beach furniture is starting to litter the sand. Did you know that the metal can be recycled in this furniture?
Textiles, such as towels, clothing, socks, shoes, hats, sheets, blankets are everyday.
May is a new month.. lets hope people will re-think their plastic.
