10 Action Items to Fight Poverty- Blog Action Day 2008

What is Poverty?

 You think Poverty is not buying coffee from Starbucks? 

• Poverty is not able to buy anything 

You think Poverty is not being able to afford to buy a Real Prada Purse?

• Poverty is not having a purse 

You think Poverty is not being able to afford steaks? 

• Poverty is not able to buy food 

You think Poverty is sacrificing and only taking a 3 minute shower?

• Poverty is not able to have access to water 

You think Poverty is having a Yugo Car? 

• Poverty is not having any means of transportation 

You can make a difference very easily 

#1) Clean your closet – take to resale store and donate the profits 

#2.) Clean your closets and donate to local agency or organization- I guarantee you won’t miss your items. 

#2.) Clean your Pantry and take to local Food Donation establishment- save your waistline  

#3.) Donate a day- teaching, feeding, cleaning at your local organizations or agencies. 

#4.) Adopt a kid- or become a Big Sister or Brother 

#5.) At Work- Set up a donation box for a local Charity 

#6.) Vote: 

#7) Support your local business and  fair- trade

#8) Take the money you saved by not buying that purse, designer coffee, and donate it. Start the same program at work 

#9.) At the grocery store, pick up one of those ‘Donate Now’ and add it to your grocery bill. The dollars add up. 

#10.) Donate your old computers to the needy- offer to teach them how to use.
