When I see these incredible pieces of art made from beach trash, my awesome monitor goes sky high! I admire creative people that envision works of beach art that look fabulous and say something. While my creative index might get better, I can wield a paint brush! Since hotel towels are one of the top items picked up on the beach and nobody wants to buy, decided to experiment and do a tie dye project with towels and a few sheets that were found on the beach. Made a couple of curtains for myself (and a few to sell)
Found the pillow on the beach, (Target) washed and made a tie-dye pillow case. As an FYI, don’t usually pick up pillows, but this one was like new.. ergo.. And yes, you can find all types of pillows on the beach.
The chairs were picked up in the alley ready to go to the landfill. Picked them up and painted a lime green.
The stool was found in a Fire Pit at Belmont Park. Picked it up, sanded it down, painted it. The covering was from a new and broken cheap beach chair (still with tags) loved the watermelon print, took apart, cut out from salvaged wood a new top and stapled it.
The wine sleeve was from a brand new shirt in the trash. Cut the sleeve off, sewed the bottom. The ribbon is from a boogie board leash.
This was a fun project. I hope the tie dye towels and sheets sell this weekend for the Monthly Beach Trash Find sale. Don’t really care if the furniture sells, as love the look and want to keep them!
Cost: Washing clothes: $15.00, paint (already had) Tie Dye ($20) Time: 4 hours, Fun Factor: Priceless
Have a few more chairs to fix up that were found on the beach… might be a new career!
