One of the ways you can support the environment and not cost you any money is Better World Club– an eco friendly car club that donates 1% of their annual revenues toward environmental cleanup and advocacy. I should say not cost you any money if you are already a member of AAA.
They offer the usual travel discounts, 5% on renting hybrid cars, other event discounts, car and bicycle assistance, carbon offsets, free maps, insurance and gas rebate coupons. I really like their section on Eco Friendly Travel Tips. Best of all, they don’t use your money like AAA to lobby in Washington for more roadways and against mass transportation.

I’ve looked at the site that you refer to, and the links they use to provide info about AAA are out of date and direct readers to sites that are decidedly one-sided. I work for AAA, and I’d like to provide you with more contemporary info and a few facts that were left out of those sites. AAA has supported mass transit/public transportation, clean air and recycling programs for years (see: http://bit.ly/AAAenviro). At http://bit.ly/C8tXD AAA describes Public Transportation as “an essential part of a balanced transportation system” that “plays a vital role in helping to meet individual and the nation’s mobility needs.” And at http://bit.ly/4mucBs, AAA says, “Providing and encouraging the voluntary use of alternatives to driving…will be one of the most important challenges for the 21st century.” I hope the info at these links helps to clear up some of the misinformation that is on the other website.

This is a good initiative to reduce the imapct of our carbon footprint on the environment. Also cycling and walking help the environment in more ways than one and also helps one stay fit and healthy. We must remember to save our natural resources from further damage. For example water conseravtion methods need to be implemented in every household.
