The one thing I can say about Dell is their response to sustainable practices. First they partner with the Goodwill to recycle computers and now they are harvesting the gold from computers and phones to make gold jewelry.
Designed by Nikki Reed, the The Circular Collection by BaYou with Love and Dell is a 14-18 carat gold jewelry collection, that is made in Los Angeles, California. Some of the jewelry includes both Opals and Diamonds, which are also ethically sourced.
I Just Got To Eco You
- 12.5 % of waste is recycled (EPA)
- 50 million tons of electronic waste yearly
- $60 million in gold and silver is thrown away every year in old phones. (EPA)
- $2 billion worth of materials inside e-waste each year in consumers are throwing away.
- 99% more eco friendly extracting gold from old computers than removing it from the earth.
- 20 tons of mine waste for one wedding ring.
This is all a part of Dell’s Legacy of Good Program, in which they have pledged to recycle 100 million pounds of recycled content into its product portfolio by 2020.
