My favorite Farmers Market is Pier 39(?) in San Francisco. They have everything there! A group of friends make a yearly pilgramage and spend almost the full day, buy tons of goodies and then go on a picnic.
Farmer’s Markets are growing steadily, especially the organic market, so I thought I would go visit the local Leucadia Market. (Sunday 10-2) Everything was delicious, again, we bought tons of fruit, bread, honey, cheese, olives, stopped by the store, picked up a 6-pack and had a great picnic!
Please note: that not all vendors are organic. To be qualified as organic, they have to be CCOF Certified Organic – so watch for the signs if you are looking for organic produce.
Unfortunately, again my batteries died (cheap Target rechargeable batteries) so didn’t take too many pics.

We bought great peaches, lettuce here. The Peaches were to die for!
If you go:
- Stop for the Organic Honey from Hawaii- I guess Hawaii is the only state that has organic honey. You will not be able to decide on what flavor.
- Taste the home made Tamales, in many different flavors!
- Go the the woman who is selling the olives, I ate the whole jar in 1 week! She also has hidden away the best FETA cheese, I have ever had. Melts in your mouth!
- The cantelopes, where the freshest and the sweetest, I have had all summer.
If you are into gifts, there is plenty of clothing, jewelry, native plants and other stuff to buy from local vendors.
My suggestion, make a day of it, the music is decent, the food is delicious, it’s on an elementary school playground, plenty of places to picnic and take the kids!

I’ve in no way imagined that it will turn out to be my habit to read blogposts because it is so much mind-boggling.
