The climate is a-changing and it is cold, not as cold as most of the country, but cold is a relative thing. All that wind and rain along with high tides brought in a tons of beach trash. I lost data on 3 days and 107 pounds according to Clean Swell. Did not pick trash on 8 days. The following is the beach trash count for 17 days only in 1 mile of beach. Going just by the count, that is 368 pieces of litter per day, add in the lost data, and pounds.. my aching back!
One day, the beach was so bad, I handed out bags to many people and there were several beach clean ups. Can you imagine how much trash there was in just 1 mile of beach!

The amount of plastic straws 600+ was incredible. If I had to estimate this is about one half of the straws. I only did the tide line and there were so many other people picking up trash.
The storms washed up so much plastic and needles. Found a total of 5 syringes, some with needles still attached.
Interesting finds: Douche, never found one of these before, this was a first
A great flashlight and I needed one. Usually find a couple of year and did not find any last year. This was a nice surprise.
Really hate finding cell phones. The easy way is to just turn it in to the lifequards. They will never get them back. Fortunately the people at Sprint were able to unlock, so I could answer the phone and tell whomever, I have the phone. It was returned, in the nick of time. They called right before I was making a trip to the Goodwill to recycle
Beach and camping chairs are very common, but this was a first, a retro orange chair, of which I am going to clean it up and resell it.
Never found a disposable blow torch before. Worth about $25.00 on Amazon.
I have found a few golf clubs, but never the full set. It was old and rusty, somebody just left it in the park
This cot was about to be washed away. So it ripped, at least take it up to the trash cans. I pulled it out and left it for the trash guys. The sad part, is these cots are easily recycled at least for scrap metal. Hated to leave it, but the trash guys told me they would get it. Last year, I found a great folding cot and sold it to my neighbor for $5.00. He uses it for his grandchild.

Total of 3071 pieces of beach trash in 9 days and about 18 hours. That equates to 171 pieces of litter per hour. If I use the step app, it equates to 3.9 pieces of litter per step. That is sick!
It has finally warmed up, we are expecting more rain… ergo more beach trash. One piece of litter at a time.
