Las Vegas, NV: Peter Ortmann, Founder/CEO of Clear Blue Oceans (CBO) Worldwide Inc. of Florida, and Plastic2Power USA of Las Vegas, Nevada is pleased to announce the joint launch of their Find Your Plastic Porpoise GoFundMe crowdfunding campaign.
The Find Your Plastic Porpoise (a play on finding your “Purpose”) is designed as a single-use plastic packaging waste awareness initiative to better educate participants about marine debris and the impact of the growing global plastic packaging waste crisis.
According to a recent UN Report “Single-Use Plastics – A Roadmap for Sustainability” over “300 million tons of plastic waste products were generated in 2015.” Over 8 million tons of that waste is estimated to find its way into our oceans annually killing millions of seabirds and marine life, which also impact our health.
The Report concludes that “if current consumption patterns and waste management practices continue, by 2050 there will be around 12 Billion tons of plastic litter in landfills and the environment, which may account for 20 percent of the world’s total oil consumption.”
CBO Worldwide believes this is a true environmental crisis in the making and one that requires a new, innovative entrepreneurial large-scale waste management solution. One designed to end the life-cycle of not just single-use plastic packaging waste, but scrap tires, and glass containers at the source before these items ever reach our landfills and oceans.
To address this waste crisis CBO Worldwide developed its Plastic2Power waste management solution and several related business models. That effort starts with its Find Your Plastic Porpoise awareness campaign, designed to build a global online group of ocean activists to help build out the solution.
To engage participants the initiative is designed to become a fun, educational and rewarding treasure hunt unlike any ever offered before. Under the program, CBO Worldwide intends to release seven (7) PODS of 50 or 350 GPS trackable Plastic Porpoises into the Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico in early 2019, depending on the success of its GoFundMe campaign.
The goal is to allow participates in the campaign to track these Plastic Porpoises online through a mobile App and website to locate one for a cash reward (treasure). The intent is to teach participants about how plastic waste moves among the ocean currents to land on some far-off island or coastline, and expose the damage such waste can cause.
One of the Plastic Porpoises within each POD is worth USD $100,000 when found, two will be worth $50,000 each, five worth $20,000 each, ten worth $10,000 each, twenty worth $5,000 each and the remaining 12 are worth $2,500 each. Making each POD worth $530,000 collectively. Porpoise Trackers, as they are called, will have up to three years to locate and recover them.
The initial 2019 Porpoise Drop campaign will offer $3.7 million in total combined cash rewards, assuming all are found, funded entirely through brand sponsorships, the ones who package their products in mostly single-use plastic.
CBO Worldwide hopes to grow the campaign in the coming years to dropping 40 PODS or 2,000 porpoises annually within the Caribbean, Gulf of Mexico, North and South Pacific and Mediterranean by 2025.
The Campaigns Signature Sponsor is Plastic2Power USA, a CBO Company that has developed a global waste management solution to address single-use plastic packaging waste on a local level, but under a global scalability business model. They intend to convert collected plastic packaging waste products, plus scrap tires back into low Sulphur fuel oil to use for transportation and power generation.
