I had done a post previously on Signers of the Safe Cosmetic Pact- but here are a few more ‘Green’ Cosmetics Companies.
Aveda Aveda Cosmetics has long supported green initiatives and has donated over $6 million to environmental causes. Their products are plant-based and they use organic alternatives to synthetics chemicals in their ingredients. What should make you feel even better is knowing that Aveda uses 100 per cent wind energy to offset the electricity used in their main manufacturing plant.
Cargo Cosmetics has released a new line of botanical lipsticks called Plant Love. Not only does the lipstick contain natural ingredients, but also the container is made from corn-based product that is filled with wildflower seeds. When you are done with the lipstick, plant the empty container in the ground, water and watch the flowers grow. Store Locator on Site – can be found in Sephora Stores
Josie Maran-. All containers are made from recyclable corn-based material and the products are plant-based. Cosmetics is just getting started, but it is our goal to be known for the responsible choices we make. Our products, packaging and processes are only the beginning, as we endeavor to broaden our scope of responsibility each day. Our efforts include small but important steps – printing only when necessary and using recycled paper and eco-friendly products in our day-to-day operations. Our display units at our retail counters have been constructed from sustainable materials and we do our best to be responsible in our manufacturing and shipping materials. We learn as we go and these things take time, but we’re getting there.
Nothing Nasty (online) uses recyclable and reusable bottles, minimal and degradable packaging. Sells a range of hand crafted products such as castile soap shampoo, moisturisers, shaving oil and lipbalm.
