Slowly but surely- I am using up all my toxic cleaning products. Knowing Baking Soda is a cheap and non-toxic cleaner, bought the 12 pound bag at Costco ($4.50). Started to use as bleach in wash (excellent) but so far the best results have been in the bathtub!
What I did:
- Took a plastic Peanut Butter Jar and poked a hole in the top (reusing and makes a great shaker)
- At the end of the shower- sprinkled the baking soda on tub bottom
- Took a sponge- and rubbed the bottom with my feet-
If bottom of tub is really dirty- let it sit and next time you take a shower- it will just wash away-
Easy, cheap and time saving.

Good idea Cathy. The tub is a tough one as many of us got used to the toxic, abrasive cleaners to get the nasty soap scum. I have switched all of my cleaners over to non-toxic, but I like the idea of reusing a container and buying a large size baking soda at Costco. Any good suggestions for the dishwasher? The environmentally friendly dishwasher soap I have tried so far has not been great.

I don’t have any suggestions for the dishwasher yet, because mainly I hand wash with Dawn. I do have dishwasher and also trying to get rid of dishwashing stuff. After all soaps are gone- I am going to use baking soda again. Am so tired of having 20 different cleaning agents around when you only need 2- vinegar and baking soda. Will definitely be posting my product reviews.

I love your ideas of scrubbing the tub with your feet after the shower and/or leaving baking soda overnight…I’m definitely going to try both! Also, I make my own dry dishwasher detergent, it is very easy and economical, check-out my blogpost about it here http://greenkeen.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html at my blog, Natural Cleaning Product Reviews.

This is truly a great idea cleaning the tub with baking soda i use tilex but this tip works wonders and going green is a priority for me so baking soda would be my Non Toxic Cleaner for my tub.
