A couple of times a week, I receive emails from people wanting to know what to do about people, neighbors and businesses that continually dis-respect their neighbors and the environment with the continual amount of trash they improperly dispose of.
These pictures were sent in by a concerned citizen, who over the years is angry at Identity Beauty Salon in Ashland, Kentucky. The citizen states the salon throws the trash in the street, does not use the dumpster. Aerosol cans, hair, shampoo bottles, food and paper are lying open in the street, blowing all over and worse yet attracting rats and other pests.
The problem is the dumpster guys don’t go pick up the trash, at least they don’t in my neighborhood. Their job is to empty dumpsters and might pick up the odd extra piece, but they will not go chasing the neighborhood picking up trash. So how long does this trash sit and collect diseases? Not only that it is inconsiderate to anyone, it smells bad! Nothing is worse than a bunch of rotting garbage.
The other kicker- Beauty Salons are known for the amount of toxic chemicals they use. When not disposed of properly, animals eat them, leakage goes into groundwater and humans and animals drink that ground water. It is pretty obvious here the salon does not care about the environment, that said they are most likely using toxic hair dyes that carry carcinogens, which cause cancer!
I want to thank concerned citizen for sending in the pictures, hopefully someone in Ashland, Kentucky will read this post, mention it to Identity Beauty Salon and maybe they will change their piggish ways and become more environmentally responsible, if not then show some respect for their neighborhood and the health of their patrons.

I am so glad that I was googling some things for my workplace when I came across this article. I specifically remember when these particular pictures were taken. I would like to bring some clarity to this for any readers that for one moment think that Identity Salon was responsible for this mess around the dumpsters shown. Unfortunately, during the winter months down by the riverfront, there are several homeless people searching dumpsters for food and shelter. After a snow storm one day, the salon opened late and the employees came in to find a huge mess of garbage sitting around the outside of both dumpsters. Several of the bags of trash had been ripped open and searched through. The owners and the receptionists went out and cleaned the mess, part of which did not even belong to Identity since the dumpsters service not only their building but also a large 5 story building on the block. The very next week, this act happened once again and the city was contacted and the mess sat for 2 days before Identity employees once again cleaned up the mess on behalf of the entire block. In no way do I feel that Identity is held responsible for the trash being outside of the dumpster, why on earth would the employees take the time to carry trash all the way to the dumpster and not put it inside or for that matter why would they carry them out to the dumpster and then open them and pilfrage?? That makes no sense. I hate that someone, who didn’t get the whole story would just assume a business to be lazy or environmentally irrespondible. Speaking of the environment, Identity Salon is a proud sponsor of many events in our wonderful city and a big supporter in our beautiful new riverfront project, not to mention that we are recently linked with matteroftrust.org, a wonderful organization that takes unuseable hair clippings and makes mats that can be used to help clean oil spills in our waterways. Identity will continue to strive and turn negative situations like this one into positive ones. If there is anything Identity can do to keep other writers from some of the immature and inappropriate comments such as being piggish or too weak due to chemical inhalation, feel free to comment back. God Bless.

Terrific work! This is the type of information that should be shared around the web. Shame on the search engines for not positioning this post higher!
