  2. I live in Texas where Lady Bird Johnson started the wild flower planting along highways to beautify the state. Then we started a Don’t Mess With Texas campaign and Texans take pride in their state. I am originally from Alabama and have spent the last 5 months here. I have been shocked and horrified with the litter on every road I have travelled in this state. This should be an embarrassment to everybody who lives in Alabama. Correctly disposing of trash doesn’t cost an individual a cent. Where are the State’s leaders? Where is that Alabama pride?

  3. I moved to Alabama three years ago from NC. My family and I live just outside of Dothan in Houston County and I am BEYOND appalled at the amount of litter here and the lack of concern about littering. I routinely see people throwing trash out of vehicle windows and throw out cigarette butts with no concern for who sees them do this. This is done in broad open daylight with vehicles surrounding them on main thoroughfares!!! I don’t understand why the city and county are not more proactive about this. If you cross into Florida you frequently see inmate litter patrols but not here in the Wiregrass. I have written numerous letters to the local paper regarding this and all but one were never published. I spoke with a city representative about the problem and his advice was that I should probably look into finding a way to resolve it………ISN’T THAT HIS JOB??? How do we few that give a crap actually get someone with some authority to do something to correct this? START SHOWING SOME PRIDE DOTHAN CITY AND HOUSTON COUNTY!
