Livity Outernational (www.livity.org) is a sports apparel and accessory line using organic and recycled materials. The products are made from hemp, organic cotton, recycled plastic bottles and renewable raffia straw. Due to the love of Reggae, Issac Nichelson (founder) the entire collection evolves around a Reggae/Caribbean motif. Even the name Livity is Jamaican Patois for a free, healthy lifestyle of sustainability.
What I really liked is their team of Activists. Vaquero a surfer in Ticla, Mexico who is fighting resort developers in his small surf town. (Who wants another CanCun?) Kyle Thiermann, surfer, skater and environmentist, who started ‘Claim Your Change; and organization focussed on getting people to make changes by use of their purchasing power. Bennett Harada, pool skater, who coaches and takes kids to skate parks all over LA and Rocky Dawuni, who uses the power of music to create social changes.
I had the opportunity to review the clothes at the Action Sports Retail show in San Diego and loved them. You don’t have to be young or surfer, skater or boarder to appreciate their style of organic clothing. The collection has something for anyone- I highly recommend you take a look!
