I am getting ready to aquire my mom’s old farm house in McDonough, GA. It has an old Barn and the house I think was built around 1890-1900. I really don’t have the money to do a refurbish, but it has some old heart pine floors, old doors etc. The Barn needs to be taken down. Is there anyone that knows someone or a company that does this salvage work? I could sell the structures for them to remove. Any ideas?
Thanks
Joe

My sister and I are getting ready to tear down and old 1930’s house in Manchester, Ga. It has a lot of great large old wavy glass windows, doors (french and panel ) entry door with side lights and transom over the top, hard wood floors, two great old bathtubs one of them might have legs. ( it has been closed in around the bottom ), and three mantels. ( mantels and doors have already been taken out of the house and can be picked up where we have them stored ).We are looking for anyone who might be interested in this deconstruction project. We would love for someone to recycle all this wonderful material.
Thanks, Jan

I have some antique mantles from the house I now live in. I need to know where I can take them to sell them, I do not want to sell them on eBay. They are very nice and the same ones are listed on some of the sites here.

I will be removing 3-5 Very Old Growth Long Leaf Pine trees, from 36″ diameter to about 48″ diameter, and well over 100 feet in most cases, from a lot in South Coastal Georgia (Camden County) within the next month or so. We are using a professional arborist/tree surgeon. These are beautiful trees, and all but one are VERY straight. I hate to remove them, but they are “house killers” and we will be building.
There is not enough timber to sell to a logging company (I have contacted the GA Forestry Commission), and I would hate to see these beautiful trees end up in the dump. Is there anyone who will need or will be interested in NEWLY CUT old growth pine to perhaps mill and kiln dry for future renovation use, furniture, flooring, home building or anything else? There must be thousands of board feet! Price/trade VERY negotiable.
Comment: GONE

I would like to make a reclamation project of my family’s old farmhouse in Banks County, GA. The house was built around 1900. The floors and outside walls are rough-hewn pine and the inside walls and ceilings are tongue and groove. I have no idea of the square footage or board feet involved or even how to get started on this project. I do know that the house has sat empty for 40 years and will in the not-too-distant future fall in on itself and that wood will be gone forever. I would like to hear from anyone who does this sort of demolition work or from anyone who knows anyone that does this type of work. Thanks
