I have done a lot of posts on reclaimed wood and salvage. Despite the growth of sites like Giving Away- it seems that people are just not recycling waste, people are still throwing away perfectly good items. The other day, somebody tore down a house and in the dumpster tons of usable and viable wood.
That said, I ran across this great article from Ecologist about a new environmental project that recycles wood destined for landfills. If you are not working, are interested in environmental jobs, you might consider reading this article to gain some insight into how a recycling wood career might work for you.
‘As more of us rightly bow to pressure to reuse, recycle and save energy in our homes, it is worth reminding ourselves that householders account for just nine per cent of the UK’s waste. The construction industry, however, accounts for approximately a third.
