24 states have banned electronic waste into landfills, a great thing, but I think many people believe that electronic waste is just computers and printers. It includes much more. Anything that has electronic scrap components contain contaminants such as lead, cadmium, beryllium, mercury, and brominated flame retardants, that plugs in is electronic waste, that if sitting in landfills, seeps into our water, then into our food.
There are various ways to reuse computers and make all sorts of stuff, we love the recycled shoes!
Electronic Waste is:
- Mobile Phone
- Television Sets
- Entertainment Devices
- Electrical cords
- Refrigerators
- Microwaves
- Batteries
- VCR’s
- Stereos, Ipods
- Printers and cartridges
Even though many cities and counties are running free electronic recycling days, sometimes it’s a challenge to wait. For crafty and creative people there are ways to reuse into various artistic endeavors from birdhouses, jewelry, furniture and art.
