Got some old, ratty scrubs? Don’t throw them away! Transform them into these clever Halloween costumes instead!
Black and White Scrubs
If you’ve got a set of white and a set of black scrubs, I’ve got a couple’s Halloween costume for you. (It’ll work great for two kids who want to Trick-or- Treat together, too.) The idea is to dress up as a set of salt and pepper shakers. Each of you will wear a set of scrubs (one of you the white scrubs and the other the black scrubs). Make two hats out of construction paper (one black and one white) and place large dots on the top of them (where you’d pour out the salt or pepper). Then make circles of construction paper, one bearing a large capital S and one a large capital P, and tape them to the appropriate costume. Presto! You’re ready to party!
Another idea for black or white scrubs is to create a chain gang costume. Cut up one of the two sets of scrubs into strips. You can pin or sew onto the other set of scrubs to create stripes (white on black or black on white). Create a number patch and attach that to the shirt. Invest in a ball and chain or a chain link to attach two of you together (if you find someone else willing to do this with you), and wear an old black mask like the old timey movies. You can tell everyone you’re working on the chain gang!
Orange or Green Scrubs
If you’ve got a pair of orange or green scrubs, you can easily create a fun Tiger Woods Halloween costume. Simply paint your face with orange, white and black face paint to look like a tiger’s face, and pin leaves (fall colors if you have an orange set of scrubs, and green leaves if you have a green set of scrubs) all over your scrubs. You can pin silk leaves, homemade paper leaves, or real leaves on you–whatever works best for you. You can also carry a golf club with you (a wood, not an iron, of course) if you want to complete the costume.
Pink Scrubs
If you’ve got pink scrubs, you’ve got a Pink Panther costume in the making. Buy a Pink Panther mask and create a long pink tail out of pink felt and stuffing or thick pink rope. Make a light pink oval out of light pink felt and pin this to the front of your pink scrubs. Pin the tail to your hind side of your pink scrubs and bring along your iPod with the Pink Panther theme set to play.
Reusing your scrubs will make you feel better about your impact on the environment and will save you money on costumes. After Halloween has passed, use your scrubs for painting projects or cut them up to use as rags.

GREAT IDEA!!!!! I love the idea of recycling and saving money on a Halloween costume.
If you don’t own scrubs, I’m sure you’re local Good Will store is likely to have some 🙂
Halloween hand me downs are also a great way to recycle and save money. Never throw those used costumes away!
