Earlier this week I wrote about reusing Flip Flop for sunglasses and guess what, another company is now reusing Flip Flops to make more Flip Flops. How great is that!
The Trash Hero’s out of Bangkok are taking all those flip flops to be recycled into Flip Flop soles. Polymer scientists of the Prince of Songkla University Pattani campus formed a company Tlejourn (wandering across the sea) Collaborating with ChangDao a shoe maker, the new flip-flops are called Khya (Thai word for trash), and they are pretty cool.
The process allows turning 11 Pounds of ocean debris into a Khya flip-flop. That is alot of reuse and alot of flip flop, since they weigh almost nothing.
While this is only for a limited amount and a limited time, we hope that they will follow the route of Adidas and be such a success that more will follow.
