Food wrappings of all sorts are one of the top beach clean up items. Ring Pops are among those items and they are obnoxious. Ring Pops came into being in 1975 and manufactured by Topps. First you do not know if they can be recycled as there is no Plastic coding. They are all sugar with 60 calories. Total Fat 0g (0% DV), Trans Fat 0g, Sodium 5mg (0% DV), Total Carb. 14g (5% DV), Sugars 11g, Protein 0g. Percent Daily Values (DV) are based on a 2,000 calorie diet.
They break, they get covered in sand, they drift on water. They can be easily swallowed by marine animals. They are plastic and lead to more plastic pollution.
During the summer, I pick up a Ring Pop or parts of a ring at least one per day. Not alot as compared to Snickers wrappings, but they are one item that can be reused.
But apparently you can reuse them in crafts:
That said, they may be cheap and soothing for kids, but the reality is, don’t take to the beach and if you do, Pack in In and Pack it Out.
