One of my pet peeves is litter- it looks bad, it’s annoying- and the stats say that 3 out of 4 people have seen people litter. You can do something about it. Many states and some cities/counties have Litter Hotline numbers in which you can either call in or email in people who litter.
What happens after you report- A letter, postcard is sent to the litterer. The primary purpose is to send a message that someone is watching as well as to educate people their is a fine involved.
Just plug those litter hotlines into your cell and report anyone who litters. You will have to have some information – see below for general guidelines. (They may vary by state, city, county)
- License plate number, state, and type (Disabled, University, etc.)
- Vehicle description (make, model, type, color)
- Who littered (driver, passenger, unsecured load, etc.)
- Description of what was littered
- Date and time of incident
- Location (Hwy, Road, intersection)
- Direction of travel
- Nearest town

Doesn’t Wisconsin have an illegal dumping hotline?
Cathy says
Yes, each city usually has one, call your local waste management or city gov to get the illegal dumping number

the number that you have for Tampa (813 276-3220) is not accurate.

I live in Anna, Texas, every Tuesday the distributor for the “Penny Saver” throws the paper to our homes, however, most of the time they are just dropped in the street. I have called them several times to complain but to no avail. This is a blight on our subdivision. Most people do not pick them up so they lay for weeks. Not a pretty sight. I walk and pick them up when I can but would appreciate anything you can do to have them quit delivering this unwanted paper. Thank you

The number 1-888-LITTERBUG listed under Pennsylvania has been discontinued.
Nevertheless, thanks for your efforts.

There should be a litter hotline for every single state, I am so sick of the ignorant a$$wipes who through their damn LIT and unlit cigarette butts out of their cars….jackasses. They think the earth is their ashtray.
