Thousands of tires dumped illegally in Montgomery County cost taxpayers an estimated $500,000 a year for cleanup and disposal.
“There are over 200 illegal dumping sites around the county,” said Jane Tomcisin, a community program specialist for the Montgomery County Solid Waste District. “People will dump wherever it’s convenient.
The Montgomery County Solid Waste District, joining with the cities of Dayton and Trotwood, Jefferson Twp., the Ohio EPA and Public Health — Dayton & Montgomery County, has formed the Don’t Dump Tires Task Force (D2T2F), to combat the problem.
Abandoned tires are showing up all over the county.
