You would think that with the miles of empty desert, one would hear all sorts of news about illegal dumping in Nevada. We couldn’t fine much in 2008 and still cannot find much today.
- NDOT says it saves an estimated $500,000 each year through sponsored litter removal of approximately 200 segments of state road in the Las Vegas area since they launched the Sponsor a Highway program in Reno in Fall of 2015. here is now litter removal sponsored on 29 miles of Reno-area highway
- NDOT maintenance crews removed 1,510 cubic yards of debris and spent 4,120 man hours removing trash and debris on Interstate 80 in Reno.
- 2017: $8.3 Million spent in Clark County to clean up graffiti, trash and debris from streets, parks, public areas and flood control channels. This does not include other costs such as health, illegal dump sites and more.

Party Balloons Become Airborne Litter in Nevada; Officials from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service said they can’t go anywhere on the 1.6 million-acre refuge these days without finding at least one Mylar balloon blown in from nearby Las Vegas.
