I was not a part of an official Coastal Clean Up group, as was running my Beach Trash Find Sale. But I did go out and pick up the big stuff.. like clothing, chairs, towels, sheets, bottles, some toys. It was a mess! I picked up over 137 beer cans, about 17 glass and miscellaneous other bottles. Fortunately, there was another ‘canner’ who picked up the rest of the cans and bottles. I left much behind, as needed to get ready for the Beach Trash Find Sale.
There were about 4 Major Parties going on at Belmont Park and now we all know…. drinking means trash.. lots of trash and broken bottles. We also know the police won’t- can’t do anything.. so some of the parties were still going on at 4:30 am with quite a few sleeping if off in the park, parking lot and on the beach.
September 15 was a really busy morning and due to time, never really got to pick up trash. Left piles along the sand for easy pickings.
What is really sad.. the next day, you would have thought that the beach would be a little cleaner and little nicer. Instead it is like nothing happened. More parties, more trash.
Over 25 toys..
One of the 2 parties on the lawn at Belmont Park in which they left all their trash.
These overnighters forgot not just their table.. that is a mattress!
6 Disposable Boogie Boards, spewing styrofoam were left on the beach just in front of Belmont Park. I didn’t pick up the parking lot, but there was at least 1 boogie board in the picnic area.
I don’t know (nor care) if Chase Bank was part of the clean up.. I do know that these promo lollipops are part of the problem, not the solution. Sugar wrapped in plastic over a ‘straw’ seriously. Shame on Chase Bank..
These easter eggs were hidden in a hole, ready to be covered or washed away by the tide. Pulled them out and actually left them in pile on the beach. Knew the Cleaner Uppers would be there in a few hours. Hate these and Hate Belmont Park even more for doing this annual Easter Egg hunt in which these eggs are strewn all over and continue to wash up on the beach all year.
Bad pic.. ‘Cutsey’ and stupid ice cream holder, these are strewn all over the beach all year long .
Scored a new cooler..
Is it sad? All these people walking around with plastic bags and picker uppers and all did any of the people on the beach get it?
