My neighbor throws away golf clubs that he cannot resell. To date I have rescued 5 sets of golf clubs out of his trash and donated them. My other neighbor and I just got into an argument about the reuse of golf clubs and according to her there is nothing else to be done. I have a dumpster dived golf club set in my garden as a prop for plants.
Bottom Line- you don’t want golf clubs going into landfills because they take up space and the don’t break down. You can contact your local recycling center to see if they take golf clubs.

Great blog about the different ways to reuse and recycle golf clubs. We also feel that even before recycling, the best way to save energy is through reuse! That said, we definitely buy golf clubs for scrap value from anyone who brings them in to our plant to sell. We’re obviously a long way from California, but just to let people know who read this blog, your local scrap processing company will be more than happy to buy your clubs from you if you feel reuse is no longer an option. The clubs will be baled and sent off to a mill, where they will then be melted down and turned into something new 🙂

Actually, my apologies, golf clubs are considered shredder scrap, which aren’t baled, but sent to the mill as is.

If the clubs are no older than 10 years, please consider donating to an organization like mine that refurbishes the clubs and sends them to youth programs. Your are helping to recycle by reuse and your donation is tax deductible.
Thanks for the inspiration here. I made a 400 piece club donation to the local school for the deaf as a way to insure that all club sizes would find instant use. Now my mission is to find how to recycle and repurpose cut golf balls that are left behind to distract golfers on every course out there. Any feedback would be welcome. I know that there is some craft and art interest. I have a significant supply for reuse should you be interested.
Would like to know if anyone knows would they rust if you do something for outdoors? We are looking to make a memorial for a golfer that passed and we want to use their clubs. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Hi Brenda,
If you use golf clubs with a steel shaft for the memorial you are building, they will likely rust. On the other hand, if you’re able to use golf clubs with an aluminum head and a graphite shaft, you should be fine.

I don’t know, it would depend if they were hollow
