I live in a neighborhood where you can walk to most amenities. Trader Joes (1 Mile), Henry’s (1 Mile), Home Depot (5 miles), Library (6 Miles). I try to walk and do my errands at the same time. Saves money, the environment and best of all my health. Now there is a great site that rates your walking neighborhood.- Plug in your address at Walk Score and it give you the walkability of your address with a map that locates nearby stores, restaurants. Walk Score measures how easy it is to live a car-lite neighborhood. My neighborhood rates 45 out of 100 (Car Dependent). I am actually surprised by this because every amenity is close.
